My partner and I just returned from a short vacation in Michigan’s Grand Traverse region.
If you have been following my blog for any length of time, you may recall this location being highlighted as an inexpensive vacation option several years ago.
Truth be told, we attend every year and while that may sound monotonous at first, we always try to add new touches into the experience each year – this year including:
1. Our first real experience mountain biking. We rented bikes and covered approximately 20 km through the VASA pathway on 29” fat tire Big Surly bikes; I found it to be my most enjoyable riding experience ever and am already planning for more.
2. An amazing, free parkour “basics” course led by Levi Meeuwenberg of Ninja Warrior fame and boasting views of Grand Traverse Bay as a backdrop. Levi relocated back home after working as a stuntman in films, commercials and live performance events in Los Angeles in order to start an organic farm on his family homestead – truly awesome. If you don’t already know him, watch his show-reel:
Thanks for being such a wonderful and humble guy. Thanks again Levi for showing up!
Let you guess the number of stories from which we leaped. I suggest not undertaking parkour training the same day that you ride your first 20 km mountain bike ride…
